Looking ahead: Maidenhead United

Maidenhead United F.C

Nickname: The magpies
Manager:  Alan Devonshire
Ground: York Road (4000)
Position last year: 1st (national league south)

Last season:
A successful season last time out for the magpies. Finishing top of the table with 98 points. Maidenhead lost just four times throughout there league campaign. Although a successful league campaign was had the magpies did not enjoy cup successes being knocked out at the first hurdle in the FA Cup. The magpies also went out of the FA Trophy at the last qualifying round.

History:

Since being found 146 years ago Maidenhead have never been promoted to the National league until this season. Looking through the history of the magpies there are a few connections to Wrexham through players of both clubs.
Firstly Jefferson Louis who had two spells at Maidenhead along with a spell at Wrexham. Louis made just the 15 appearances for the magpies through two spells while he made 42 for the dragons in his only spell. Jefferson is also one of only three players who have ever played for Maidenhead with full international caps.
Another link between the two clubs is more recent with defender Jamal Fyfield. Again Fyfield had two spells at York Road one on loan and one permanent. Jamal made 96 appearances in his spells.  Jamal had one season with Wrexham making 43 appearances in the 2015-2016 season.
The final link is a ongoing link through midfielder Christian Smith who is still with the magpies. Smith aged 29 had two spells with the dragons in his career. During his time there he made 42 senior appearances for the club. Smith joined Maidenhead in 2015 and won promotion with the magpies last season.

We look forward to seeing the magpies in the national league next season.
